RICHMOND, Va. -- Cold, high pressure will settle into the region Friday night, allowing surface temperatures to fall into the low to mid 30s across western Virginia where a freeze warning is in effect. The rest of Virginia will experience lows in the upper 30s Friday morning. Sunshine will allow conditions to quickly warm on Friday, reaching the mid 60s by afternoon, but still cooler than normal.
A storm system will spread rain into Virginia on Saturday. Early Saturday will be dry, but rain will likely reach the I-95 corridor by 3 p.m., and will spread across eastern Virginia by 5 p.m.. Scattered showers will continue Saturday night into Sunday morning, with the coverage of rain tapering throughout the day. This weekend will be the coldest April weekend in Richmond since 2007!
