Albertville, AL -- Prom is a special chance for high school students to dress up and dance the night away. One Albertville High School student is bringing a very special date to her prom, a man who has been there for her entire life.

Joy Webb is preparing for her first prom ever, and her date is none other than her 80-year-old grandfather, James Drain. He's fondly referred to as 'Poppa.'

Drain said of his granddaughter, "She said 'I would love that! You're the one I wanted! Hey, will you come to the prom with me and be my beau?' And I said I sure will!"

Drain never went to prom growing up, and Webb wanted to share the experience with her Poppa, a man who brings nothing but happiness to her family, she said to WHNT.

"My family is everything to me, and I love him so much, and it's just like really special to me because I know not many people get to do that. And I know he loves me and I love him, and it's just really neat and special," said Webb.

Not only will the pair be experiencing prom for the first time three generations apart, Poppa was able to check another item off the list as well.

"This is my first appearance in a tuxedo! First tuxedo I've ever had!" Drain said.

First tuxedo, first prom, and a carriage that would make Cinderella jealous.

"And this is my prince for the night!" said Webb, "Alright!" Drain replied.
