HANOVER COUNTY, Va. – Deputies said a family dispute may have prompted a shooting in Doswell that sent a man to the hospital Thursday morning.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to 10000 block of Pleasants Circle in Doswell at 10:30 a.m.
That’s where they found 52-year-old Charles Lacy suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Officials said that “minutes after arriving,” deputies arrested the victim’s brother, 50-year-old Jessie Lee Lacy.
Lacy was charged with felony Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Shooting Within an Occupied Dwelling and Use of A Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
“Although the motive is unclear at this time, preliminary investigation reveals that a family dispute was the precursor to this act,” Sgt. Terry Sullivan said in a news release.
Lacy is being held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail.
