Meteorologist Nikki-Dee Ray joins WTVR CBS 6

RICHMOND, Va. – WTVR CBS 6 is pleased to announce meteorologist Nikki-Dee Ray has joined the CBS 6 Storm Team. Ray can be seen weekdays on CBS 6 This Morning, Virginia This Morning and CBS 6 News at Noon.

"I’m thrilled to be part of this community. I know people will be counting on me every morning for an accurate forecast and it’s important to me that I get it right," Ray said. "I will work to earn the trust of our viewers and make sure they get a unique and memorable forecast before heading out the door for the day."

The Alabama native attended Auburn University and Mississippi State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences.

"Nikki-Dee is an outstanding meteorologist and we’re excited that she’s part of the WTVR CBS 6 team," WTVR CBS 6 news director Sheryl Barnhouse said. "Her passion and enthusiasm for weather will be a great addition in the morning and we’re confident that she’ll provide our viewers in Richmond with clear forecast to help them plan their day."

Ray previously served as chief meteorologist in Lubbock, Texas. There she led a team of meteorologists through numerous severe weather events. She was named "Best Local TV Weathercaster" in 2013 and 2014 at her previous market.

"Nikki-Dee is storm tested and has been a leader in severe weather coverage in the Plains," WTVR CBS 6 chief meteorologist Zach Daniel said. "Her skill set and compelling demeanor will serve the viewers of Central Virginia well, in any kind of weather. I'm very happy to have Nikki-Dee as a part of the CBS 6 Storm Team!"

Dee begins on-air duties at WTVR CBS 6 on Monday, March 23.
