SHORT PUMP, Va. — Less than three months after opening on the Boulevard, a beer shop is expanding to Short Pump. Reid Carter said he plans to open Growlers to Go near the Trader Joe’s in Short Pump in May. While the lease has not been finalized, Carter said the location would most likely be the 1,600-square-foot space at 11341 W. Broad St. in Short Pump Station that was formerly home to a retail store called Jake & Friends.

The West End Growlers to Go will have 70 taps for beer lovers looking to get their growlers – portable beer containers – filled. The new location also will have an expanded selection of bottled and canned beer. Carter opened the first Growlers to Go in December at 1017 N. Boulevard with 56 draft lines.

“We’re trying to bring the same store out to the suburbs,” Carter said. “We are interested in dominating this little convenience craft beer situation here in Richmond.”
