HENRICO, Va.  –The J.R.Tucker boys’ varsity basketball team has decided not to play its scheduled game Friday night against Maggie Walker Governor’s School.

This comes after a brawl broke out at Tucker’s game against Thomas Jefferson game after a referee called a foul.

School leaders, Henrico officers and parents helped break up the fight and make sure things didn’t escalate. There were no injuries.

The Tucker team will instead use Friday night for a positive discussion on who they want to be as a team both on and off the court, said school spokesman Andrew Jenks.

“While not all team members were involved in Wednesday night’s altercation, the players are choosing to have a positive discussion about who they want to be as a group, and how they want to represent themselves on and off the court,” said Jenks.

“Tucker wishes to express its apologies to the MLWGS team, and expects to return to action next week,” said Jenks.
