LOUISA COUNTY, Va. — Two truck drivers were taken to UVA Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a head-on collision Thursday morning in Louisa County. The crash happened at about 10:55 a.m. along Route 623 (Chopping Road), near Route 624 (Mount Pleasant Church Road), according to Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick.

“A 2004 Ford box truck was traveling south on Route 623 when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a northbound 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer,” Vick wrote in an email.

The driver of the 2004 Ford, Bruce T. Martin, 21, of Louisa, was charged with Fail to Stay Right of Center.

The Peterbilt was loaded with 77,000 pounds of gravel, police said. No gravel spilled onto the road.
