RICHMOND, Va. -- A mother, distracted by her child in the front seat, rear ended a Henrico school bus Tuesday morning, police on scene said.
Four children were on the bus at the time of the crash. One child complained of chest pains and was treated at the scene. No one was taken to the hospital.
Both the bus and the mother's vehicle were headed south on Hamilton Street, near Mastin Lane, at the time of the crash.
The mother slammed on her brakes and hit the back of the bus as the bus slowed to make a turn, police said.
The mother was charged with following too closely.
The accident was reported at about 8:16 a.m. outside United Methodist Family Services.
