ETTRICK, Va. -- The Virginia State University Trojans advanced in the NCAA Division II football playoffs after the team's first playoff win ever Saturday. The Trojans defeated Long Island University- Post 28 - 17.
VSU quarterback Tarian Ayres opened the game with a touchdown and defensive back Andre Rawls returned an interception for a score that sealed the Trojans' big win.
The Trojans hope to pick up their second playoff win Saturday versus Bloomsburg University. The game is scheduled to begin at noon in Bloomsburg, Pa.
