CHARLES CITY COUNTY, Va. – An analysis of abduction suspect Delvin Barnes‘ social media accounts failed to turn up any connection between Barnes and the teenager he is accused of abducting off the streets of Richmond.
Charles City County Police Captain Jayson Crawley said an investigation into Barnes’ phone records was on-going.
Barnes recently plead not guilty to kidnapping charges in connection to another abduction in Philadelphia. Barnes was arrested in Maryland days after the Philadelphia incident. The abducted woman was found alive.
One month before the Philadelphia abduction, Barnes allegedly hit a 16-year-old Richmond girl with a shovel and stuffed her into the trunk of a car, authorities said. The girl was sexually abused and doused with bleach and gasoline before she managed to get away, police said.
In Virginia, Barnes is charged with abduction, forcible rape and malicious wounding with a chemical, among other charges.
