HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Henrico High School will be closed for students on Wednesday, November 19, due to the power outage that occurred on Tuesday.
However, all teachers and staff are expected to report on time. Staff will report to the “new” areas of the school such as the library and atrium, which do have electricity and heat.
“We are hopeful that the power will be restored to the remainder of campus on Wednesday, but we are making the decision for students now in order to provide time for families to adjust to the change,” said Andy Jenks, Henrico Schools spokesman.
The power outage occurred when a contractor working on the renovation struck a line that feeds into an electrical panel, Jenks explained.
Henrico High School students were dismissed at 1 p.m. Tuesday after the power outage knocked out heat, phone and internet access to the high school.
