Some Ortega Taco mixes, sauces and kits recalled over nut fears

NEW YORK — The company that makes Ortega Tacos has recalled certain taco seasoning mix, taco sauce, enchilada sauce and taco kits because a spice used in those products contains peanuts and almonds. Peanuts and almonds are not listed in the ingredient statements.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts and almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” B&G Foods said in a statement. “There is no health risk associated with these products for individuals without an allergy to peanuts or almonds.”

The recalled products were sold in grocery stores around the country.
