HYDE COUNTY, N.C. — A famous female hunter said she has become a target,  after posting photos of a 510-pound bear she shot and killed in Hyde County.

Eva Shockey, 26, posted the photos to her Facebook page on Nov. 14 and 15, and said she immediately started getting negative feedback.

“Some days I’ll wake up and I’ll literally have — I’ve had 5,000-plus death threats in one day,” she told The Blaze.

The two photos she posted have collectively received more than 8,000 comments over the past few days.

“I don’t take [the negative comments] personally,” she told The Blaze. She said it “saddens” her more than angers her.

She also said she hopes people understand she is actually helping animals and the environment. She has done several interviews as the story gains more interest.

The support for Eva is also quite obvious, based on Facebook comments. Eva and her dad star in the Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures show that airs on Outdoor channel.

Last week, a Richmond man heard congratulations from hunters around the country after he shot and killed a 782-pound black bear in N.C., the second-largest bear killed in the state.

The comments on that story, though the former Dominion CEO has not received death threats, still indicate contention surrounding hunting.
