Crews find drowning victim in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH – Crews are working to identify the body of a man that downed, Saturday.

According to WTKR, the body was found in the water near Bay Island shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Crews had been searching for him since 11:30 in the morning.

Witnesses say the man was fishing on West Great Neck Road when he lost his balance and fell in the water.

Boaters in the area tried to find him and the Virginia Beach Police Department Marine Patrol were called to the scene along with the Virginia Beach Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services.

The man’s identity has not yet been released, but police say he is 26 years
