Two killed in early morning accident on I-295

HANVOVER COUNTY, Va. — – Two Mechanicsville men were killed in an early morning accident on I-295 Sunday in Hanover County.

Virginia State Police were dispatched to the single-vehicle wreck on I-295 north near Pole Green Road around 4:15 a.m.

That’s where troopers said a 1999 Cadillac was traveling north on I-295 when it ran off the road, struck an overhead sign support and burst into flames.

The passenger, 35-year-old Antonio L. Wallace, of Mechanicsville, died at the scene.

The driver, 35-year-old Derrick L. Hall, of Mechanicsville, was transported to VCU Medical where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Hall was not wearing a seatbelt.

State police are investigating the cause of the crash.
