HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Airport Police cited a Chesterfield man on a state weapons charge after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers found a loaded gun in the man’s bags at a security checkpoint.

“TSA officers detected the 9 mm caliber firearm, which was loaded with seven rounds in the resident’s carry-on bag as he was passing through the airport checkpoint,” Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said. “The TSA officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine detected the handgun and extra magazine inside the traveler’s carry-on bag as it passed along the conveyor belt.”

The man’s weapon was confiscated and the incident did not impact airport operations.
