RICHMOND, Va. -- Police identified the man killed in a crash on Interstate 195 as 31-year-old Floyd Tate III, of Sandston. A passenger in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries.
"Investigators have determined that the vehicle was travelling northbound on Route 76 when the driver lost control near the Douglasdale Overpass," Richmond Police wrote in an email. "The vehicle crossed the travel lanes and ran along an embankment before flipping over and landing on its roof on the roadway."
The accident happened at about 2 a.m. Northbound lanes near where 195 and the Downtown Expressway split were closed for several hours. Those lanes reopened around 6 a.m.
