Pair who escaped detention center captured 10 miles away

FARMVILLE, Va.- Two juvenile inmates who escaped from the Piedmont Regional Juvenile Center Saturday morning were located and recaptured about 10 miles from the center,  the Prince Edward Sheriff's Office said.

The inmates now face additional charges.

An investigation into how they escaped is underway.

Center officials informed Virginia State Police of the escape at about 6:25 a.m.

Both inmates were dressed in gray shirts and blue shorts.

One inmate was described as a white male, 5'7 and approximately 152 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

The other inmate was described as a black male, 5'5 and approximately 130 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

State Police said neither teen was armed, but advised the public not to approach them.

The Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office and Farmville Police assisted  with the search efforts.
