(CNN) — A dog fell through a pipe chase in Florida and tumbled down 16 stories before authorities rescued her on the second floor.
Susie, a Maltipoo, fell through a wall in the upper floor, according to the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
Authorities responded to a call at a residence, and found the dog had landed in a pipe chase on the second floor, said Timothy C. Heiser, the deputy fire chief.
“Fire crews on scene cut holes above and below the second floor to try to get the dog,” Heiser said. “Crews eventually managed to get close enough to the pup to remove her from the shaft before she could fall any further.”
Susie is at Oakland Park Animal Hospital. Her condition is unknown.
