LOS ANGELES – R&B star and Virginia native Chris Brown was released from Los Angeles jail Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles Times.
His release comes one month after Brown was sentenced to one year in jail for violating probation following the 2009 attack on his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna.
Brown, who was given credit for time served, was set to serve 131 days in the L.A. County Jail. His actual time behind bars was less than one month.
After his May sentencing, Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos said he expected Brown to be released from custody early. Doing so would be in accordance with how many inmates are treated — given jail overcrowding and other factors, Geragos said.
