RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Police arrested a Richmond man accused of shooting two teenagers in a park.
Walter N. Hill, Jr., 49, of Albany Ave., is charged with Malicious Wounding and the Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, according to police.
The U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force made the arrest Wednesday.
The victims, 17 and 19, were shot Tuesday along the 1400 block of Maury St. near the basketball courts in Richmond’s Blackwell community. The injuries were considered non-life threatening.
The shooting stemmed from an incident in which the teens found a man and woman having sex in the park while children played nearby, witnesses and police sources told CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett.
When the teens began to make jokes about the couple, the man got upset and the argument started. The shooting happened after the man called relatives to the park to help, police sources told Burkett.
While investigators believe Hill Jr. was the man having sex in the park, they are still investigating whether he was the person who pulled the trigger, law enforcement sources told Burkett.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
