PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) - Police are investigating a pair of Thursday morning shootings that injured two people in Petersburg.

One of the shootings happened along the 1300 block of Farmers St., according to a witness. A source told CBS 6 senior reporter a second shooting occurred along Indiana Lane.

Petersburg police received a 911 call for a person shot around 10:30 a.m. before reports of a second shooting.

"At the same time we were receiving calls for people just hearing shots fired, in the 1300 block as well as the 1400 block of Farmers Street," Petersburg Police's Esther Hyatt said.

Some who heard the gunshots said there were so many that residents were scrambling to get to safety.

Gail Crenshaw, who lives near where the shooting occurred, ran for cover.

"Sitting on the side porch and I heard a series of gunshots and I got my way inside. I had my grandson and we took the dog with us," Crenshaw said.

"It scared me to death, it's not the first time something like that has happened," said a mother of twins who talked with CBS 6 on the condition of anonymity. "We was just going around the block and I heard about maybe 18 shots. And the first thing about was just to get home."

Police said the victims’ wounds do not appear to be life threatening.

One person was transferred to VCU Medical and the other person kept at Southside Regional.

Sources said at least one person was being questioned about the shootings at police headquarters. No arrests have been made.
