RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A man shot in his car crashed and died on Patrick Avenue, near East Laburnum Ave., in Richmond Tuesday night. The victim has been identified as D’Shaun A. Bethea, 31, of the 3500 block of Patrick Avenue.

Richmond Police were alerted to the shooting about 11:53 p.m. When they arrived, detectives found Bethea, shot, sitting inside a vehicle--police tell CBS 6 by way of email.

"When they arrived, they found an adult black male in his early 30s who had been shot inside a vehicle. He died at the scene," Richmond Police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said. "Detectives believe the victim was shot inside a vehicle that then traveled a few blocks, striking a parked car before coming to rest."

Investigators say they do not believe the shooting was a random act.

Police have not yet released a description of the suspects.

"Detectives are collecting evidence and canvassing the area for information," Waugh said. "Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip."
