RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) Don’t blink, don’t rub your eyes, this is not a dream — Richmond now has its very own cookie delivery company.
The Red Eye Cookie Company opened Wednesday and appears to be doing very well.
It’s an evening delivery service at this point.
Demand was so high that first night that Red Eye rolled out orders for almost five hours before they cashed out of the goodies.
Their Facebook page at 8 p.m. read:
“We knew you guys liked cookies, but it turns out you guys REALLY like cookies. If you’re experiencing any difficulty ordering, try using the online site first as phone lines are slammed, and only call if you’re outside the delivery area or have pressing questions. We appreciate you bearing with us while we scale to keep up with the immense demand for fresh baked cookies.”
The next update was very telling of our city’s love of fresh baked munchies:
“RVA has cleared us out of almost all of our dough and we have stopped our ordering system for the night. For all that ordered or came out, we’re blown away and we couldn’t be more appreciative.”
Did we mention they deliver milk and coffee with the treats?
Here’s the deal. They deliver fresh baked gourmet cookies, hormone-free locally sourced milk, soymilk, and local artisan coffee (Lamplighter) to downtown Richmond. Vegan cookies are planned eventually and there is a gluten-free option, according to their Facebook page.
Hours are 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday. Delivery is extended until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Feel free to stop by the shop at 708 W. Grace Street for take-out.
The delivery area currently runs from Interstate 195 to Church Hill and from I-95 to the James River, including a portion of Manchester.
Here’s a look at the delivery zone where the magic blazes happily into tummies.
