HANOVER, Va. (WTVR) – The Hanover Sheriff’s Office is investigating a vandalism spree that happened over the weekend in the Battlefield Green subdivision.

The Hanover Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports that Christmas decorations had been vandalized in homeowner yards. Further investigation revealed that the suspect(s) also slashed multiple victims’ car tires.

Resident Leon Smith may have the most damage with eight tires slashed on two cars and his pickup, but that isn't his biggest concern.

"When somebody comes up in your yard, that close to your house and slashes your tires and knock you mirrors off, that's kind of frightening," he said.

Another resident, Jill Henderson is just one of many who had her Christmas decorations destroyed and she said her children are also bothered.

"Every noise now, when she hears a noise, she wants to know what that it, if they are back and are going to hurt the tires again," Henderson said.

To date, over 50 victims have been affected.

The Sheriff’s Office has gone door-to-door in an effort to identify victims, as well as to collect information that may be helpful to this investigation.  These efforts are ongoing and increased patrols will continue in this and surrounding neighborhoods.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at 804-365-6140 or the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
