CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Virginia State University’s Gospel Chorale is hitting the road.
The students will perform during a month-long European tour next month.
The tour, which runs Dec. 4 – Jan. 2, includes performances for the Pope’s Vatican Christmas Concert and New Year’s Eve concert in Rome’s Piazza del Popolo. Other stops include Sicily, Geneva, Switzerland; Bucharest, Romania; and Budapest, Hungary.
“The past year-and-a-half has been extremely good to the Chorale,” VSU wrote in a statement. “In September 2012, they won the People’s Choice Award as part of the Washington, DC regional competition of How Sweet the Sound – a Verizon experience. Last January, they participated in the DC Citywide Interfaith Food Drive, one of the official kick-off events for President Obama’s National Day of Service during his inauguration weekend. Most recently, the Chorale appeared as a quarterfinalist in this season of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
