Officer assaulted in Culpeper County

CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR)-  Friday morning at 12:23 a.m., Police conducted a traffic stop at Sunset Lane and Redbud Street in Culpeper. A black 2013 Nissan Altima was stopped in the middle of Madison Road heading northbound.

Three occupants exited the vehicle and were approached by police. The driver, Dominique Bradford, 22, of Capital Heights, Maryland, ran back to the vehicle. Police tried to gain control of Bradford before he reached the driver door, at which point an officer deployed his taser. Bradford then ran. The officer was injured when he gained control of Bradford.

Drug paraphernalia and narcotics were found in the vehicle by a K-9 unit.

Bradford and two other passengers Wayne Johnson, 34, of Capital Heights, MD, and Andre Puller, 22, of Culpeper, were arrested for felony possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, heroin, and PCP.

Bradford was also charged with assaulting a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest, eluding police, and impeding traffic.

 They are held without bond and remanded to Culpeper County Jail.

The officer was transported to Culpeper Regional Hospital, and later released.
