HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A man could spend 10 years in prison for killing a woman in a head-on collision. Richard E. Lawrence, Jr., of St. Stephens Church, Virginia, was found guilty Friday of Aggravated Involuntary Manslaughter for a June crash in Hanover County.
Mary Hoover, a teacher, was killed in the 9 p.m. crash on Pole Green Road, near Lee Davis Road. In addition to the Aggravated Involuntary Manslaughter charge, Lawrence was also charged with Driving Under the Influence.
Another adult women and three children under the age of eight were injured when Lawrence’s 1999 Saab ran into their 2002 Chevy SUV head-on.
A jury recommended he serve 10 years in prison. His formal sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2014.
