HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A man flying from Richmond to Texas was stopped at Richmond International Airport Sunday after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers working the X-ray machine found two guns in his carry-on bag. Richmond International Airport Police Department determined the weapons were replica guns, TSA spokeswoman Lisette Garcia said via email.

“Realistic replicas of firearms are also prohibited in carry-on bags and must be packed in checked baggage,” Garcia wrote. “Passengers are responsible for the contents of bags they bring to the security checkpoint, and TSA’s advice to passengers is to look through bags thoroughly before coming to the airport to make sure there are no illegal or prohibited items.”

The passenger was allowed to continue on his flight.
