HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Overnight violence in an East End Henrico community has neighbors shaken up.

Early Saturday morning, police received a call about a suspicious situation in the 400 block of Penley Ave.

Police said the victim saw two white males suspiciously looking into vehicles outside his home. He approached them with his gun in hand. After a brief exchange between the men, one of the suspects shot the victim in the hip.  The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects have not been apprehended.

Police said they have responded to several calls regarding car break-ins in the neighborhood. However, they have not determined if those calls could be connected to this incident.

Neighbors are growing anxious waiting for the suspects to be found. Tracey Leake, who lives within the block of the shooting, said she's taking precautions to protect herself.

"It's just become a very frightening situation now that you have to put your porch light on and make sure all of your windows and doors are locked," Leake said.

Police described one of the suspects wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and the other wearing a white t-shirt. If you have any information regarding this shooting, please call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
