HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Glen Allen woman is charged with reckless driving after hitting two women who were walking on Gaskins Rd., according to Henrico Police spokeswoman Lt. Linda Toney.

The women were rushed to the hospital where they were described as "stable and alert."

The driver, Jamie Salazar, 36, was released on summons at the scene, police said.

The women were crossing Gaskins Road, near West Broad Street, about 7 a.m. when they were hit. One southbound lane of Gaskins Rd. was closed as police investigated the incident. All lanes have since reopened.

Those who work in the area call the intersection where the accident happened "chaotic" and "congested."

"It's dangerous," Biff Rogers, who walks along Gaskins Road daily said.  "You have to be very careful when you cross the street and make sure you look both ways when you do."

"It's not a safe place to cross," Wilhemina Anderton--who works nearby said.  "It's just too busy for anyone to be crossing."

The driver told CBS 6 Reporter Jerrita Patterson the accident happened as she tried turning on her defroster Thursday morning.

"I fee so bad just to see them lying there," Salazar said.

Before Salazar was allowed to leave the scene, police gave her a breathalyzer.
