Rain has delayed grape harvest for Virginia wineries

Posted

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR) -- All the rain we've had in Central Virginia is delaying the grape harvest.

In fact, the vines are too wet to be picked and some of the grapes haven't finished changing color yet.

Historically this could be one of the latest harvests in Virginia because of the rains.

Vineyards are waiting for the ground to stay dry so that they can finally get the grapes juiced and into barrels.
