No evidence linking Murphy suspect to Morgan Harrington

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Virginia State Police re-affirmed Wednesday that there is no evidence that links the case of missing teen Alexis Murphy to any other investigation. That includes the investigation into the abduction and murder of 20-year-old Morgan Harrington.

Harrington disappeared after she left a Metallica concert at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville in Oct. 2009. Her body was found on an Albemarle County farm three months later. No arrests have been made in her death, however police did identify a possible suspect in the case. [Click here to see the state police wanted poster]

On Sunday, police arrested 48-year-old Randy Taylor in connection to the disappearance of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy. Murphy is still considered missing at this time.

Nelson County High School principal Todd Weidow told CBS 6 reporter Jerrita Patterson school staff is working to make students feel "as normal as possible" while the search for their missing classmate continued. Nelson County High School opened for the school year this week.

Pink ribbon for Alexis MurphyThe principal said the school system is working with the FBI in its investigation and that is has made counselors available to help students who are having a difficult time with this situation.

Pink ribbons are hanging around Nelson County as a show of support for Murphy's family and the investigators working to bring her home.
