CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Police will continue their search for clues and information into the July 4 shooting death of seven-year-old Brendon Mackey.
Mackey was struck and killed by a stray bullet while he walked to see fireworks near Sunday Park with his father.
Police said the bullet was likely fired from within a mile and a half of the park.
Tonight, police will go door-to-door in the McTyre’s Cove, Winterberry Ridge, and Timber Ridge sections of Brandermill, hoping someone in those neighborhoods heard or saw something that night.
Police have gone door-to-door, in different parts of Brandermill, for the last few weeks.
Forensics testing indicated the rifling on the bullet that hit Mackey was mainly consistent with, but not limited to the following firearms manufacturers:
- GLOCK
- Heckler & Koch
- IMI
- Kahr Arms
- Vektor Pistols
