HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Fire crews fought a house fire near the intersection of West Broad Street and Parham Road in Henrico's West End around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officials on the scene called the fire along the 8300 block of West Broad Street a small kitchen fire, but then later said it was a dining room fire.

Initial reports indicated that the house might be vacant, but a man's body was found inside the home, Capt. Jim Mellon confirmed.

Officials later said that the male found dead inside the home was related to the woman who owned the home. who had recently died.

A man who works near the home of the fire told CBS 6 News' Chelsea Rarrick that it was the traffic on West Broad St. that caught his attention.

"You heard the sirens and everything else going on," said Anthony Tennyson.

Tennyson said he did not know the man found inside the home, but said his thoughts are with the family.

A preliminary investigation reveals the death could be fire related.
