LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A New York accountant was convicted of bringing more than 15 pounds of marijuana into Virginia. Winston Nugent, 39, was sentenced to three years in prison, according to Louisa County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rusty McGuire.
McGuire said Nugent sold marijuana to supplement his income.
McGuire said in December, the Louisa County Narcotics Task Force took Nugent into custody when the accountant drove a rental car from New York to Virginia. He said Nugent appeared on their radar while the task force was investigating drug distribution in Virginia.
“Greed landed this man in prison,” McGuire said. “He had a good paying job as an accountant but it was not enough and he turned to crime.”
