ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A substitute math teacher was charged with six counts of assault and battery and six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after students accused her of abusing them in class.

Laurie Millard, 49, of Orange, was substituting in a 6th grade math class at Locust Grove Middle School last week, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators did not release details about the nature of the abuse, however they did say none of the students suffered serious injuries.

One parent whose child was in Millard’s class told Fredericksburg.com that Millard kicked some of the children in the shins and grabbed others by their shoulders and face.

“It seems like she just went berserk,” the mother told the newspaper.

Millard was released on a $6,000 bond. She is due in court May 28.
