CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Police are searching for a 28-year-old man accused of abducting and assaulting his girlfriend Wednesday night.
Culpeper police said it happened in the 400 block of Wayland Road about 7:45 p.m. when a domestic argument broke out at the couple’s home.
The 25-year-old victim told cops that police that her boyfriend, Gilberto Dominguez-Jaimes, started arguing with her while she was making dinner. The victim said the argument turned violent when the suspect allegedly pulled a handgun and bashed the victim in the head.
The victim was able to free herself and attempted to call the police, but said Dominguez-Jaimes grabbed the phone from her. She told police that the fight continued until she was able to get away. She said Dominguez-Jaimes drove off in a Volkswagen Passat.
Police said the victim was taken to the hospital with cuts on her head, lip, arm and hand.
Police have arrest warrants charging Gilberto Dominguez-Jaimes with felony abduction and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Additionally, police said warrants are also on file for misdemeanor assault and battery of a family member, brandishing a firearm and preventing the victim from using the telephone to call for help.
