RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Thousands turned out for the 14th annual Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K race.
In fact, over 38,000 runners and walkers took part in the 10K, which was broadcast Saturday morning on CBS 6. [BONUS: Click here to watch the race]
Julius Kogo, who won the race for a second time, came in first with a time 28:18. Last year he came in second.
The 27-year-old told CBS 6 Sports' Lane Casadonte that, God willing, he'll be back for next year's 10K.
Twenty-four-year-old Olga Kimaiyo won the women's race, just missing the record by a second, with a time of 32:25.
David Hofe, the Dash for the Cash contestant, also won. He made it to the finish line before the other runners to win the $2,500 purse. He's the seventh person to win the challenge since the event began nine years ago.
