HAMPTON ROADS (WTVR) - Crews rescued a truck driver trapped dangling off the I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (MMMBT), according to a report on WTKR.com.The driver, who suffered minor injuries, will be charged with reckless driving, WTKR reported.
The woman's truck overturned on the bridge, closing all travel lanes Monday morning. State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya told PilotOnline.comthe truck caught fire after the driver lost control of her truck and hit the bridge.
"It is anticipated that the northbound lanes could be opened in the next few hours; however, the southbound lanes are anticipated to remain closed up to and possibly through evening rush hour," VDOT spokeswoman Dawn Eischen wrote in an update email at 12:30 p.m.
VDOT suggested drivers use the I-64 Hampton RoadsBridge-Tunnel (HRBT) or the Route 17 James River Bridge as alternate routes.
