RICHMOND, VA. (WTVR) - Richmond police are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday afternoon, and the victim was apparently stabbed to death in a East End parking lot.

We are told officers received a call just after 1 o'clock about an altercation in the 1300 block of Coalter Street across from North 18th Street near Oliver Crossing apartments.

Public Information Officer James Mercante tells CBS 6 the victim suffered stab wounds and died on scene.

Richmond Police have identified the victim as Keon Robinson of Richmond.  Investigators have also arrested Barbara Banks, who lives off Coalter Street.  Banks has been charged with murder in this case.

The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of Robinson's death at a later point in time.

Nunney Hicks lives in the Oliver Crossing Apartments were Robinson was found.  Her heart is heavy Saturday because Robinson is her brother.

"Don't nobody deserve to get their life taken," said Hicks.

Richmond Police have not released any information on how Banks and Robinson knew each other.

At one point during the investigation, a crowd of more than 200 people surrounded the crime scene.  For many in the crowd, Robinson's death is a violent end for man his family says was turning his life around.

"He just a loving person.  I don't know why anyone would do him like that," said Bubbles Carter, who is Robinson's God-sister.

"Every day out here somebody gets killed.  It's just too much.  So this right here, he [Robinson] should be alive today.  This shouldn't happen," said Jaquizz Barnes, Robinson's cousin.

Robinson's family said he leaves behind a daughter.

Richmond Police are asking anyone who has information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
