HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A judge sentenced a Henrico man to six years in prison on child porn charges. Troy Wayne McDowell, 42, plead guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography with the intent to distribute, and seven counts of possession of child pornography, according to an email from the office of Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.

McDowell traded child pornography over peer-to-peer networks on the Internet, the Attorney General’s Office said. A police officer with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (SoVa ICAC) made contact with McDowell and downloaded child pornography from McDowell’s computer.

When police searched McDowell’s home in March 2011, they said he admitted to downloading child pornography. He also said he set-up his computer to allow others to download files from him. A search of McDowell’s computer yielded “hundreds of child pornography files depicting prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, corroborating the defendant’s admissions,” the Attorney General’s Office said.
