GOOCHLAND, Va. (WTVR) - Goochland head coach Joe Fowler admitted his team came out flat in their first round playoff game. They wouldn't be able to do it again and expect to win and thankfully for Fowler and their fans, the Bulldogs didn't.
Facing a Buckingham team that took them to overtime in the regular season, Goochland dispatched the Knights in the second round of the Division 2 playoffs 28-7.
Buckingham scored first, after a David Dyer fumble, on a 16 yard run by Kyree Koonce. Goochland responded with a 1 yard Jordan Jefferson TD run to tie the game at 7. Jefferson made the next big play on defense coming up with an interception on Buckingham's next drive that set up a Reid Chenault 34 yard TD pass to Nathan Adams that gave the Bulldogs a 14-7 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs advance to face King William in next week's Eastern Section Division 2 semifinals. It's a rematch of last year's game in the third round of the playoffs won by Goochland 16-12.
