HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A weekend fire at Tuckahoe Elementary School in Henrico's West End was caused by a sparking overhead florescent light.
That light caught a couch on fire, according to Henrico Fire Captain Doug Reynolds.
Smoke damaged about 25% of the school.
As a result of the damage, school has been canceled Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Thursday, Tuckahoe Elementary students will be taken to Short Pump Middle School. The students will have class at Short Pump Middle for the next two or three weeks, Dr. Pat Kinlaw with Henrico Schools said.
The county will meet with Tuckahoe parents Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the details. That meeting will take place at Short Pump Middle.
