CHARLES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Charles City County investigators arrested a man and a woman accused of breaking into a Dominion Virginia Power substation and stealing copper.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the substation on Chambers Road on Friday morning, they said they saw a blue van attempting to leave, Charles City County Sheriff’s Office Capt. J.T. Crawley said in an email.
After cornering the van, Crawley said deputies searched the vehicle and found “a large amount of copper and burglary tools.”
William Mckendrie Jefferies, 39, of Highland Springs, is charged with entering property to commit damage, trespassing on public utility property, possession of burglary tools and grand larceny. He is being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond.
Dee Marie Loving, 35, of Sandston, is charged with entering property to commit damage, accessory to possession of burglary tools and accessory to commit grand larceny as a result of the incident. She is free on bond.
Both suspects are scheduled for arraignment in a Charles City County General District on November 7.
