HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Henrico County man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in what police believe was a robbery. Police identified the victim as Jimmy Jamal Henley, 30, of King & Queen Drive in Henrico, according to Henrico Police spokeswoman Lt. Linda Toney.
"A person of interest is in custody but charges have not been placed at this time," said Lt. Toney.
Police were called the Saddlewood Townhomes in the Pines just before 1:00 a.m. to investigate the shooting. When they arrived, they said they found Henley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to VCU Medical Center where he died.
This is the second time the Henley family has faced tragedy. In 2006 Jeremy Henley, the brother of Jimmy died after police said he shot and killed himself while playing with a handgun at his girlfriend's apartment. Jeremy's death was ruled accidental.
Investigators believe this was a robbery that turned deadly. However, detectives are not saying if the victim was targeted by the shooter.
"All of that information is part of the ongoing investigation," said Lt. Toney. "Detectives are working with our forensics investigators as well as officers that were on scene and witnesses to make sure they are compiling all of that information."
Police said a person of interest has since been taken into custody for the killing of Jimmy Henley, but charges have not been placed at this time.
This is a developing story.
