HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Just one day following a robbery and shooting at the Breckenridge apartment complex in Henrico’s West End, police were called back to the same location Friday for an alleged break-in.

Henrico police say they have two “persons of interest” in custody and are investigating a possible connection to Thursday’s early morning shooting, that left one man injured in the 4000 block of Mineral Spring Lane off Gaskins Road.

Breckenridge management called police around 11 a.m. Friday to report suspicious activity after two apartment doors were discovered open. Police say they detained two men without incident.

Apartment resident Mike Cummings says he was shocked to discover police commotion for a second time at his normally quiet complex.

“I saw a bunch of cops running toward that way drawing their weapons, and there was a manager, I think of the building, telling my mom and I to get in our car and go.”

Around 4-am Thursday morning, a 39-year-old man says that two men with guns took his wallet and then shot him. He was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

While police say the two incidents are coincidental, they are interviewing both men to see if the cases are connected.

Cummings says many neighbors are shocked and worried.

“It’s definitely out of sorts for this part of town,” says Cummings. “Especially to see that much police activity and for that reason.”
