Molnar said that, according to several witnesses, the crash occurred when the driver of a Jeep, who was traveling southbound, crossed the grassy median and struck a tractor-trailer head-on that was traveling northbound.

The impact caused the tractor-trailer to run off the right side of the roadway down the embankment and catch fire.  The tractor-trailer was hauling lumber at the time of the crash.

The adult male driver of the Jeep died at the scene.
