JURIEN BAY, Australia (CBS) – A fisherman was pulled from the ocean about 31 miles north of Jurien Bay off the Western Australia coast on Friday after treading water for 20 hours when the boat he was in sank, local media reported.
The man was spotted by local station Channel Seven’s helicopter with at least one hammerhead shark circling 66 feet away.
Channel Seven reporter, Grant Taylor described the event live from the helicopter to a local radio in Perth as it unfolded.
The 49-year-old man was barely able to swim to the rescue boat and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital suffering from exposure.
The fisherman was with two other men. One was later found and did not survive, the other is still missing, according to Channel Seven.
