PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - About a dozen guns were stolen from homes and vehicles in Prince George County, Virginia over Memorial Day weekend, Prince George Police Det. Mark Gunn told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil.

One of the thefts happened during a house party. Gunn said a group of teenagers invited friends over to a home when the parents went out. The party grew to about 30 people. Someone at the party made their way into the parents' room and stole guns that were hidden in drawers.

"You're dealing teenagers and you're dealing with loaded weapons," Det. Gunn said. "You just don't want guns on the street, with kids."

The other gun thefts involved people breaking into a home and a camper.

"Inside the storage shed they removed fire arms out of a metal cabinet that was left unsecured. The other two they went inside vehicles and stole pistols."

"There should not be any weapon in a vehicle when it's unattended."
